Home-made Colours: Inaugural Exhibition of the Hong Kong Oil Painting Research Society
25 March to 26 June 2011
The exhibition is jointly organized by the University Museum and Art Gallery and the Hong Kong Oil Painting Research Society. It is the Society’s inaugural exhibition and also a programme of The University of Hong Kong’s centennial celebration.
The mission of the Hong Kong Oil Painting Research Society is to promote the art of oil painting in Hong Kong. The twenty-two participating members include well-established masters and young promising artists. They express their feelings of “Home” with dynamic colours, aiming to establish a unique style of oil painting in Hong Kong.
On display are over fifty oil paintings. The artists adopt traditional oil techniques to depict animated portraits and landscapes of Mainland China, Hong Kong and overseas. Their styles are both realistic and abstract.
